William Ireland Dalkey Arts Gallery is proud to announce the inaugural exhibition by renowned artist William Ireland. This is the Glaswegian’s first exhibition in Dublin and consists of new work that reflects the diverse subject matters he has developed and focused on over his career. The exhibition opens on the evening of Friday, October 16th, and will run until Saturday, October 31st. What attracts people to William Ireland’s work is his ability to take everyday scenes, fuse them with bright colours and gentle brush works to create timeless paintings. The bold and beautiful colours identify him as a colourist in the long-standing tradition of the Glasgow School of Art, where he trained. His subject matters vary from garden scenes to water scenes and to his tranquil depiction of interiors and exteriors, often reflecting his love of animals and children. His work is featured in Tamsin Pickeral's '5000 Years of the Dog in Art', voted one of the top 50 books of the year in the Financial Times. Some of William Ireland’s images have graced the covers of Maeve Binchy’s books bringing him greater international recognition, amongst them, Tara Road, Scarlet Feather, and Quentins. William Ireland has exhibited regularly at the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the New English Art Club and the Llewelyn Alexander Gallery in London. He has also shown some works over the past few months at Dalkey Arts Gallery, which have been very well received.
