Born in Glasgow in 1932, Walter Bernardini had no formal training but has been artistically gifted since childhood. He entered the "commercial art world" in 1947.
Throughout his career, Bernardini's skill as an artist went hand in hand with his reputation as concept visualiser and many of his paintings were sold through galleries in Scotland.
Moving to Dublin in 1963, he soon became known in the advertising and design industry, producing much award-winning design and illustrations. During his design years, painting became secondary but through the years it gradually took centre stage once again.
Bernardini's works have been exhibited and sold in National Exhibitions in An t'Oireachtas, Living Art and Royal Hibernian Academy. Since his retirement in 1995, he has been able to fully concentrate his time on painting and drawing for the first time in may years.
Walter Bernardini's subjects range over a wide spectrum and he paints in watercolours, gouache, acrylics, pastels and oils. Today his work hangs in many private collections throughout Ireland, Scotland, England, USA and the Far East.
