‘Everyone is an artist’
Joseph Beuys
Cill Rialaig have come up with an exciting new art event to generate vital funds, called ART250. Rod Coyne is one of many artists who have stayed at the Cill Rialaig Artists Retreat in South West Kerry who have donated works which will be sold to buyers at a fixed price of €250. But you have to use your eye to buy!!! The identity of your chosen artist will be revealed at the end of the 8-day-show.
ART250, already supported by many leading celebrities, will take place for a week this summer in Dublin at a high street store location so as to attract the widest possible audience. There will be major media coverage, which will help to promote the artists and expand knowledge of Cill Rialaig and the work that it does.
Cill Rialaig has invited a number of celebrated personalities in Ireland to participate in this event by creating their own “masterpiece” and donating it to this exhibition. Invited ‘celebrity artists’ include Bono, Adam Clayton, Donovan, Diarmuid Gavin, Alan Hughes of TV3, Leigh Arnold, Mannix Flynn, Colm O'Snodaigh, Liam O'Maonlaoi, Barry Egan and more.
This exciting event will run 10 – 6 pm Sat 6th – Sun 14th June 2009 with a late night opening on Thurs 11th June at Habitat Building, 6 -8 Suffolk Street (off Grafton Street), Dublin 2. Ph: (01)4785159
Many Dublin based artists will join in a PEOPLE MOVING POSTER CAMPAIGN on Grafton Street in the hope of convincing shoppers to ‘bag’ an original piece of art for €250 instead of a pair of designer shoes!!
